Consolidations in industry and political consensus
of the energy agreement have created a good
foundation, and Oil Gas Denmark is hoping that this
will encourage investments in the Danish sector of the
North Sea proven to be the most environment friendly
in the world

for realizing the potential still waiting for us in the North
Sea. We foresee an increased level of activity in our
neighbouring countries, and among other indications we
observe increasing interest in investments in Norway. A
situation we would like to see, too, here in Denmark,"
states Martin Næsby, Managing Director of Oil Gas Den-
mark pointing at the advantages in producing in a coun-
try like Denmark where the load on the environment is
less than seen elsewhere. This is a fact he can refer to a
survey from Stanford University stating that Denmark is
the most environment conscious producer with regard to
CO2 footprint.
"We shall need oil and gas for another many years,
so when we here in Denmark see the the "greenest"
recovery in the world it makes good sense for us to
attempt to produce our own resources. As an industry
we, naturally, support the ambitions of our Government
of being CO2 neutral in 2050. But such an ambition
will require very large investments over the years, and
we shall still need production of oil and gas to reach
the target. The activities and the proceeds created by
such production should be used to advance the green
transformation, and to my opinion that will cause no
clash of interests. To an increasing extent the operators
consider themselves energy companies often active in
wind power as well, and I hope, that a sensible price
of oil and stable conditions in general may encourage
further investments in the Danish sector," states Martin
Director Martin Næsby.
