GETTING ALONG QUITE WELL Speed may be a bit reduced for a few years, but for Falck Safety Service it is primarily a question of suc- ceeding in making a powerful exit from a period of stagnation. That is why the next period is extremely important for the giant in safety at work. When Falck Safety Service – operating 36 training centers in 20 countries – puts on their global glasses to scrutinize the trends it looks as if – without in any way competing with biblical dimensions – fat years are followed by mea- ger ones. Generally, status is the same all over: expecta- tions point at a signifcant decline in growth. “Like so many other companies Falck Safety Service has been hit by what is known as a “double whammy”. It started in 2013, when the major oil companies focused more on paying dividend than on exploring, so their shareholders called for savings. After that we were hit by a decline in oil prices, so we are defnitely most aware of any change in the market,” admits Peter Svarrer, CEO Falck Safery Service, who has felt the consequences of the negative development. “For 5-6 years in succession we saw a decent growth, Peter Svarrer will secure Falck Safety’s position even if the coming years may be tough. but now the situation has changed when looking at our WHAT WE READ AND services within safety. There is likely to be less person- nel needing training, so we are very much concerned HEAR FROM OUR with how to get through a period of expected decline. Fortunately, we are in a market, where there is always CLIENTS IS THAT a demand for our services. We do not see a dramatic 2015 AND 2016 MAY BE change where all activities disappear, so the challenge is to ensure that we get out of the dark tunnel ft and TOUGH YEARS, BUT in an even stronger shape,” states Peter Svarrer, who is expecting to see the market growing more attractive in a IN PRINCIPLE THEY few years. ALL EXPECT, THAT BY STILL NUMBER ONE THEN THE HARDSHIPS For the next couple of years growth will come to a stand- still or perhaps even decline calling for a new approach, WILL BE OVER and that is the exercise, Falck Safety Service is practicing just now. 50 / GETTING ALONG QUITE WELL
